The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
It is a comfortable and easy daysailer, and a wonderful boat for teaching someone to sail.
Doughdish No. 509 was built by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, MA in 2006. CHICKADEE has been cared for by Ballentine's Boat Shop since new and remains in excellent condition. Her yearly maintenance work has already been completed, including: varnishing all brightwork; sanding and painting the bottom; sanding and oiling the cockpit sole, compounding and waxing topsides; varnishing mast and spars; and cleaning of sails and covers. She is a nearly new boat package at a greatly reduced price.
CHICKADEE's sale includes good sails (main and jib) and covers, a custom Triad trailer and a Harding Sails winter cover.
