Originally designed and built by Nat Herreshoff of wood in 1914 and called the HERRESHOFF BULL'S EYE. In 1938 she was modified with an above transom tiller, and named The FISHERS ISLAND SOUND BULL'S EYE.
In 1949 a fiberglass version of the FISHERS ISLAND SOUND BULL'S EYE was introduced (overseen by Sidney Herreshoff) that also featured a cuddy cabin and modern marconi rig on an aluminum spar. This became the THE CAPE COD BULL'S EYE.
Throughout the evolution of different decks and rigs, the hull design has remained unchanged from the original first built at Herreshoff Mfg. Co.
GYPSY has a small cuddy to provide a little more protection. Her maintenance is minimized with aluminum spars, fiberglass hull and seats all combined with reduced wood trim. She has a nice size cockpit that will comfortably accommodate 4 or 5 adults, yet it can be easily single handed. Bulls Eyes are also raced as one designs.
Gypsy’s custom Triad trailer has allowed her to be brought home and stored inside each winter.
She is currently located at Ballentine's Boat Shop in Cataumet, MA, and available to be seen by appointment. Please contact Amy or Matt via Email for more information about this listing or to schedule an appointment for viewing. Or call for Amy or Matt at 508-563-2800.
