LAGNIAPPE has been owned and loved by one owner over her 31 years. She is in solid condition but is ready for a cosmetic restoration.
LAGNIAPPE, meaning a gift, presents her new owner with an opportunity to restore a timeless classic. Structurally she is sound and complete, and could be sailed. To restore her cosmetically she would benefit from stripping and refinishing all varnish on the boat, spars and parts.
The teak trim on the boat could also be stripped and oiled to be more maintenance friendly in the future. The hull is white gelcoat and could clean up with polishing or could be painted any color in AwlGrip. The bottom would benefit from being stripped, barrier coated and painted in the next few years.
Her sails are in brand new condition. She does not have any canvas covers nor a trailer but both could be ordered and added.
The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
