The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
It is a comfortable and easy daysailer, and a wonderful boat for teaching someone to sail.
Doughdish No. 038 was built by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, MA in 1976. While this is one of the earliest hulls, she has been cared for by each of her owners and remains in solid overall condition. There are a few areas of attention we would recommend. There is a crack in the port coaming and the brightwork would benefit from refinishing.
Over the years, her mast and spars have been replaced and portions of her decks repainted. The sails are serviceable and include a spinnaker and spinnaker gear.
She is currently in storage on Cape Cod and can be viewed BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact Tyler Fields at Ballentine's Boat Shop via Email for more information about this listing or to schedule an appointment for viewing. Or call Tyler at 508-563-2800
